MM+M features FCBCURE’s Toxic Tampons campaign

In partnership with Clean + Healthy, FCBCURE's “Toxic Tampons” campaign is working to persuade New York legislators to ban the toxic chemicals in menstrual products.

“People are in a toxic relationship with these intimate products and we want to end that,” said Debra Polkes, Managing Director and Creative Lead at FCBCURE.

The campaign’s print ads, which depict a tampon in an ashtray, compare the toxics in tampons with those found in cigarettes. On the campaign’s website, users can sign a letter supporting the legislation. And, to get the attention of legislators, dispensers resembling cigarette packs stocked with toxin-free products were placed in the New York State Capitol.

“So goes New York, so goes the rest of the country,” Debra said. “It’s that kind of momentum that we’re helping to drive and this is what it takes to get change done. Sometimes it is from the ground up.”
