Bold Beginners Internship Program

At IPG Health, we’re obsessed with helping our people grow. Bold Beginners offers an immersive, hands-on learning opportunity for college students interested in pursuing a career in advertising, with a focus on the future of healthcare.

Applications are now closed for Summer 2024. Please check back in early November for information on our Summer 2025 program.

How does it work?

Bold Beginners is a paid nine-week summer internship program, designed to support interns as they gain real-world experience, learn more about healthcare advertising and connect with senior leadership.

Each week, interns will:

  • Team up with a designated mentor in their selected subject area
  • Attend weekly Lunch & Learns to gain exposure to our various agencies, brands and departments
  • Work together in groups on a Pitch for a real client, and present their ideas to senior leadership and C-level executives at the end of the summer
  • Participate in optional career development workshops to hone skills in business writing, resume building, public speaking and beyond

Interns may be expected to complete the program through a hybrid or fully remote schedule, depending on a team's needs. You will be asked to indicate your format preference as part of the application process.

What's the application process?

One

Candidates will apply directly to their department of interest. We recommend limiting your focus to three applications total for a more focused process.

Two

Candidates who are chosen to move forward will receive an email in about 4-10 weeks requesting a phone screen with one of our recruiters.

Three

After the phone screen, applicants who are chosen to move forward will interview with a specific team. Decisions should occur no later than the end of April.

Frequently asked questions

  • A cover letter is not necessary, but if you do choose to write one, please ensure it’s addressed to the proper company and isn’t overly complex.

  • Have a clear objective at the top of your resume.

  • Highlight your top skills and experiences. Be sure to provide examples to further leverage these areas of your application (School projects, accomplishments, certificates, bootcamps, etc.). How do these skills and experiences apply to the job description and/or how do they tie into what you’d like to contribute to the organization long-term?

  • Keeping your resume and cover letter succinct is key! What are the 3 key takeaways you would want a recruiter to gain from reviewing your application? Make sure they are front and center.

  • We review all candidates from a holistic view. It's important to put time and energy into both your resume and short answer questions. Effort and thoughtfulness need to be evident on both parts!

  • Double check for typos.

  • Reach out to a mentor, your family and friends, or your university’s career center for guidance to draft your resume and/or cover letter. Their feedback may help uncover additional skills and experiences you didn’t originally think to include!

  • Double check you're not muted when you join.

  • Be on time, if not a few minutes early, and test the interview platform prior to the start of the interview.

  • Try to eliminate any distractions and prepare in advance. If you don’t have a quiet place available to join a virtual interview, your school may have reservable quiet spaces. A neighborhood library or quiet café with reliable Wi-Fi may also be a good choice.

  • Dress to impress! Interview attire is typically business smart or business casual.

  • Have a copy of your resume sitting in front of you for easy reference, so you don't have to try to recollect your experiences from memory.

  • Prior healthcare experience is not required to be a Bold Beginner, but we do like to hear about what skills you would like to apply to a role at IPG Health and the experiences you’ve had that shaped those skills.

  • Come with questions! Recruiters and Hiring Managers love it when you pick their brain and demonstrate your interest in the company, industry or their personal career journeys. Ask questions that you’re passionate about and that will help you better understand the role or company.

  • Before the interview, take 15 minutes to look through the company's work, initiatives, agencies, etc. These resources will help you determine why you’re interested in the particular role/company, and this enthusiasm will be clear during the interview.

We’ll be hosting the following virtual office hours if you’d like to chat with our campus team face-to-face. Register below.

November 12, 10am-1pm EST

December 18, 10am-1pm EST

You can also email campusrecruitment@ipghealth.com with questions if you’re unable to attend one of our scheduled live sessions.
